How long is GTA 6?
Rockstar North co-studio head Rob Nelson has said his latest full playthrough took around 80 hours. Completionists should expect considerably more.
How big is the download?
Rockstar has not published an install size. Pre-load opening a full week early on 12 November is the clearest signal that it is very large.

Who do you play as in GTA 6?

Is it set in the 1980s?
No. GTA 6 is modern-day. The 1980s Vice City of GTA: Vice City is a different era of the same fictional city.
Is the story a Bonnie and Clyde thing?
Rockstar's own framing invites the comparison: two people on the wrong side of an easy score gone wrong, pulled into a conspiracy across the state, forced to rely on each other. The romance itself is optional. Story page →
Can Jason or Lucia die permanently?
Nothing suggests permadeath. Getting caught produces a “Busted” screen and returns you to the open world; one protagonist can be arrested while the other stays free.
Does the story have choices?
Yes. Rockstar has said players face decisions throughout, with smaller ones paying off later and larger ones changing events immediately. More →

How many wanted stars are there?

What is the Criminal Profile?

Is there first-person mode?
Reportedly not at launch, though Rockstar has not confirmed this either way. GTA V added first-person in its next-gen re-release rather than at launch.
What frame rate does it run at?
Reporting points to 30 fps on a base PS5. Rockstar has not confirmed frame rates on any platform, and no PS5 Pro performance mode has been announced.
Can you switch characters any time?
Mostly. Free switching is available across the open world; some missions lock you to one protagonist or make you choose. While you play one, the other continues living their own life.
Is there fishing?

Do you need to refuel cars?
Leaked footage showed fuel and engine-condition meters and refuelling at petrol stations. It appeared again in official footage. Vehicles →
Can you buy property?
Jason and Lucia share a safehouse that works more like a Red Dead Redemption 2 camp than a GTA V apartment, with other characters coming and going. Broader property ownership has not been detailed.
Does your body change?
Yes. Regular workouts build muscle and overeating adds weight, in the San Andreas tradition.
Will there be cheats?
Rockstar has not said. Every mainline GTA has shipped with cheat codes; there is no indication that changes.
Online, PC & the future
Does GTA 6 have multiplayer at launch?

When is GTA Online 2 coming?
Unannounced. Rockstar is reportedly not planning to discuss it soon. For context, GTA Online launched two weeks after GTA V — but Rockstar has given no equivalent commitment this time.
Is GTA 6 crossplay?
Not applicable at launch, since there is no multiplayer. Nothing has been announced for the eventual online mode.
Will GTA Online for GTA V shut down?
No announcement. Rockstar has continued supporting it through 2026.
Is there a season pass or DLC roadmap?
Nothing announced beyond the Ultimate Edition contents.
Leaks
Are the CyberLeek leaks real?
Almost certainly. Take-Two filed DMCA takedowns and won court-approved subpoenas against Microsoft and Discord — actions a company only takes over genuine copyrighted material. The footage comes from a playable 2025 development build. Timeline →

What was the 2022 GTA 6 leak?
In September 2022 a member of the Lapsus$ group, later identified in court as Arion Kurtaj, posted more than 90 clips of early GTA 6 footage. Rockstar confirmed the breach was genuine and said it did not expect it to affect development.
Should I avoid the leaks to stay unspoiled?
The August 2026 leaks include story cutscenes with dialogue. If you care about the plot, avoid unfiltered GTA 6 clips on social platforms between now and launch.
Buying it

Is there a physical disc?
No. The boxed “physical” standard edition contains a download code.
Can I upgrade to Ultimate later?
Yes. Standard owners can buy the Ultimate upgrade at any time.
