Airboats are the interesting one
No previous Grand Theft Auto has had them. They exist because Grassrivers exists — a whole wetland region needs a vehicle that works on it. It is a good example of the map driving the vehicle list rather than the other way round.

Fuel, condition and maintenance
Fuel and engine condition meters
LeakedAugust 2026 leaked footage showed both a fuel gauge and an engine-condition meter, along with refuelling at petrol stations. Vehicle condition also appears on the HUD alongside character health and wardrobe status in official footage.
What this changes practically:
- A long drive across Leonida is a trip that can run out of fuel
- Damage is not cosmetic — it degrades the car and cuts its resale value
- Petrol stations become functional locations, not scenery
Handling is described as easier overall
ConfirmedPress previews report vehicles are more forgiving to drive than in GTA V. Given that the game also asks you to deliver stolen cars undamaged through Vice City, that is a sensible trade.
Stealing vehicles
