Analysis
Where the “700 interiors” number came from
It gets quoted as settled fact. It is not one — but the thing it is pointing at is real, and it matters more than map size does.
Short answer
Does GTA 6 really have 700 interiors?
The figure comes from leaked material, not from Rockstar, which has never published an interior count for any of its games. Official footage does confirm that interiors are far more common than in GTA V — bars, clubs, shops, gyms, motels, studios and safehouses are all shown enterable — but the specific number is unverified, and nobody quoting it has defined whether six identical convenience stores count as one interior or six.
It is leak-tier, and it is treated as official
The number entered circulation through the leak stream in August and has been repeated often enough that it now appears in articles without any qualifier at all.
Rockstar has published no interior count
LeakedNot for GTA 6, and not for GTA V, San Andreas or Red Dead Redemption 2 either. Every interior count you have read for any Rockstar game was compiled by players or came out of leaked material.
The counting problem
Nobody using the 700 figure has said what an interior is. A chain with six identical branches could be one entry or six, and the difference between those two readings is the difference between a remarkable claim and an ordinary one.
What official footage actually establishes
A much shorter list, and a much more reliable one. These are interior types visible as enterable in Rockstar's own material.
| Type | Seen in |
|---|---|
| Bars | Jason at a counter; the Rusty Anchor in the Keys |
| Nightclubs | NINE1NINE, Rockstar's answer to Miami's E11EVEN |
| Strip clubs | The Jack of Hearts, owned by Boobie Ike |
| Recording studios | Only Raw Records |
| Gyms | Lucia on a weight bench |
| Convenience stores | Robbery footage, hostages and registers |
| Motels | The Starlet Motel, Port Gellhorn |
| Safehouses | The shared room above Vice City |
| Garages | Vehicle storage and customisation |
What that list establishes is the direction of travel rather than the magnitude. The Extended Look moves in and out of buildings continuously instead of treating each interior as a set piece, which is a real change from GTA V whatever the true count turns out to be.
Why this matters more than the map-size argument
A state you drive across is not richer than a city you can walk into. Interior density and populated-space density describe the same underlying decision — Leonida is built to be entered, not crossed — and both say more about how the game will feel than any area figure.
