Analysis

Every building you can walk into

The most repeated number about GTA 6 after the release date is “700+ enterable interiors”. It is worth knowing where it came from and what it counts.

Short answer

How many interiors can you enter in GTA 6?

The widely repeated figure is over 700 enterable interiors, which comes from leaked material rather than from Rockstar — the company has never published a number. Official footage confirms bars, clubs, shops, gyms, motels, safehouses, a recording studio and a strip club as enterable. For comparison, GTA V shipped with roughly 80 accessible interiors, most of them shopfronts.

Where the number came from

The 700-plus figure entered circulation through the leak stream, not through Rockstar. That does not make it wrong — but it does mean it should carry a label.

The figure is leak-tier

Leaked

It surfaced alongside the map and build leaks and has been repeated widely enough that it now reads as established fact. Rockstar has never stated an interior count for any of its games, and it has not started with GTA 6.

The direction of travel is not in doubt

Confirmed

What official footage does establish is that interiors are dramatically more common than in GTA V. The Extended Look moves in and out of buildings continuously rather than treating each interior as a set piece.

What counts as an interior

Nobody defining the 700 number has said whether it counts a chain of six identical convenience stores as one interior or six. That ambiguity is why the figure should be read as a signal about density rather than as a measurement. How this site labels claims →

These are types that appear enterable in Rockstar's own footage and screenshots — a much shorter and much more reliable list than the leaked total.

Why interior density matters more than map size

Map area is the number everyone quotes and the least useful one. A state you drive across is not richer than a city you can walk into; what changes the texture of an open world is how often the world lets you stop.

The more useful framing is density, not area.

The same logic applies to the ~11× populated-space estimate on the map page. Both figures — interiors and population density — describe the same underlying design decision: Leonida is built to be entered rather than crossed. Every confirmed shop and brand →

Common questions

Short, direct answers. Each one links to the section above that explains it in full.

Does GTA 6 really have 700 interiors?#

The figure comes from leaked material, not from Rockstar, which has never published an interior count. Official footage confirms that interiors are far more common than in GTA V, but the specific number is unverified.

How many interiors did GTA 5 have?#

Roughly 80 accessible interiors, most of them shopfronts, and many of them shared between multiple identical locations.

Can you enter every building in GTA 6?#

No. Even at the leaked figure of 700-plus, Leonida contains many thousands of buildings. What has changed is the proportion, not the principle.
